Nature of the Investment Portfolio
Unlike the other types of “direct” or “simple” investments, the portfolio includes numerous diverse assets, securities and realty and demand deposits. They all have different liquidity.
The portfolio is formed as an aggregate of assets of different nature via numerous sometimes bidirectional deals.
Investing in a portfolio is generally characterized by transformation of more liquid assets, but alongside, a transformation from less liquid to more liquid assets is performed. The main criterion for inclusion of an asset in the investment portfolio is the nature of the income it brings.
In essence the investment portfolio accumulates in itself all investments aiming the realization of the income as equity. The assets included in the portfolio often bring speculative incomes. This is grounds for the formation of a trading portfolio section within the portfolio. It usually includes assets easy to trade speculatively.
